Why the BJP is searching for new friends?
After four years of power at the center where it was a most trusted ally,the Bhartiya Janta Party is now reduced to the role of supplicant before electoral partners,the Shiv Sena and Akali Dal.
These two parties were the most trusted allies of the BJP. Both the BJP and Shiv Sena has similar ideology.The shiv Sena has always been a difficult ally for the BJP.Even before the meeting of BJP President Amit Shah and Uddhav Thackeray,the Sena in its editorial in Saamna insisted that the sina will fight thecoming elections alone.the sena is trying to return its pre 2014 status.
But it will not be so easy for Shiv Sena. The Shiv Sena had lost a huge ground to BJP in the last four years.It will be adifficult task for Shiv Sena to win its lost ground in Maharashtra.And if it remains lost the Sena will be pushed for forever in Maharashtra.
The Shiv sena took hindutva as its ideology and allied with the BJP to widen its base,but despite Hindutva his core base shifted towards BJP. The two parties need each other to retain power in Maharashtra. On the other hand Amit Shah is now looking in defensive mode. In the recent move made by Amit Shah he made a signal to allies that the BJP is ready for negotiations.Amit Shah is also trying his best to retain its senior ally SAD in Punjab.The relationship between SAD and BJP is declining. But it will be difficult for the SAD to leave BJP because there is a huge anti-incumbancy reported against SAd in Punjab in the recent elections.
The BJP is trying to retain its allies because they are much important for the next Lok sabha elections.The BJP will also need allies in T.N and Andhra Pradesh.With the opposition parties uniting against BJP in several states, the BJP will need all the allies in the next coming elections.
